Perubahan Warna setelah Aplikasi Pasta Ekstrak Kulit Pisang Barangan (Musa Acuminata L.) 5% dan 10% pada Gigi Terdiskolorasi Larutan Tembakau

Abstract

A beautiful smile is influenced by teeth, discoloration of the teeth especially anterior, can change an appearance. Chewing tobacco can cause teeth discoloration. Dental bleaching is one of discoloration treatment. Banana peels as a natural bleaching agent contains saponins and minerals that can lighten teeth. The purpose of this study is to determine difference of color changes of tobacco solution discoloured teeth after the application of 5% and 10% Barangan banana peels extract paste 15 minutes in 12 days. Samples were 32 permanent premolars soaked in tobacco solution for 9 days and the initial color was measured using colorimeter. Samples divided into 2 groups, which banana peels extract paste with concentration of 5% and 10%. Extract was made by maceration using 70% ethanol solvent and made into paste and applied to sample 15 minutes every day. After 12 days, color measurements using colorimeter and calculations E. Data analysis with normality test shapiro-wilk and t-independent. Result, E Mean of 5% and 10 were 3.10 ± 0.14 and 4.87 ± 0.79. Independent t-test showed a significant difference after application of 5% and 10% Barangan banana peels extract paste with p=0.000 (p<0.05) and brightness value (L) increased after the application of 5% Barangan banana peels extract paste and 10% 15 minutes for 12 days. Concentration of 10% showed a higher color changes compared to 5%. It was concluded that there are significant differences in color changes after application of 5% and 10% Barangan banana peels extract paste on tobacco solution discoloured teeth.
