Coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) is an infectious disease that is growing
rapidly around the world. Children's oral health is influenced by parental attitudes. Is
there a relationship between parents' attitudes towards dental care visits for children
aged 6-12 years during the Covid-19 pandemic and the age and level of parental
knowledge in Sunggal Deli Serdang District.
This research is a type of descriptive research with a cross-sectional design.
The subjects of this study were 106 parents of children aged 6-12 years. Data collection
was carried out using interview techniques by applying standard health protocols using
level 1 PPE. The analysis test used is the Chi Square test with a meaningfulness value
of p<0.05.
The results of the study found that 28 people (26.4%) parents from the age
group of 30-39 years stated that dental treatment can cause children to be infected with
the covid-19 virus (p<0.05). Based on the level of parental knowledge, it was found
that parents with the highest level of post-graduate knowledge answering dental care
can cause children to be infected with the covid virus as many as 21 people (19.8%)
(p<0.05), but there is no difference in parental attitudes based on age and level of
parental knowledge in taking children to the dentist if the child has toothache (p.0.05).
It was concluded that there was no relationship between age and the level of
parental knowledge of pediatric dental care visits during the Covid-19 pandemic.
