This study aims to determine the application of self-service to circulation services at the Library and Archives Office of North Sumatra Province. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection was carried out by means of interviews, observation and documentation studies. There were 5 informants in this study, namely 4 users and 1 IT staff. To maintain the validity of the data in this study, researchers used several theoretical triangulation methods, namely triangulation of data, theory, and methods. The results of the study stated that based on: The dimensions of ease of use, self-service is borrowing and returning at the Library and Archives Service of North Sumatra Province easy to use. Dimensions of reliability, self-service loans and returns are inadequate. This is because there are still problems when making transactions through the self-service machine.
The efficiency dimension is inadequate, this is because self-service machines can only be used during library opening hours. However, users also state that transactions through loan service machines and independent returns can save and shorten transaction time. The comfort dimension is adequate, the user states that the self-service for borrowing and returning is comfortable to use. The security dimension is sufficient, the user states that self-service is safe to use.
