This study aims to find out how the intrinsic elements are found in the film Ibu-
In-Law and how the personality of the id, ego and superego in the main character
of the film Ibu-In-Law by P. Ramlee. This thesis focuses on the plot of the film
which aims to describe the intrinsic elements such as theme, plot, characters and
characterizations, setting and mandate as well as to describe the id, ego and
superego personality of the main character in the film Ibu-in-Law by P. Ramlee.
The theory used by the author in this study is the structural theory and the theory
of literary psychology. The research method that the authors use in this study is a
qualitative descriptive method. The data source that the writer obtained was the
film Mother-in-law by P. Ramlee. The data collection technique that the writer
uses is the library method. The analysis technique that the writer uses is to prepare
data from dialogue transcripts and screenshots of events in the story. The data are
classified based on following the flow of each part of the id, ego, superego
personality events as data analysis. The results of this study are that in the
intrinsic element there is a theme, namely about the romance of a pair of lovers
whose blessing was opposed by Sabariah's mother by having a forward plot.
There are 13 characters and characterizations. There are 15 place settings, 3 time
settings and 3 atmosphere settings. The message conveyed is to instill a sense of
honesty and an attitude that does not give up easily. The personality of the id in
the character Kassim Selamat is 12, the ego in the character Kassim Selamat is 8
and the superego in the character Kassim Selamat is 7. As seen from the id, ego
and superego, there is an imbalance. This means that the main character is not
consistent in realizing his id, namely wanting to be with the person he loves.
