| dc.description.abstract | The work environment in a hospital laundry unit is a work environment that is
vulnerable to occupational hazard risks. In this study, observing the work
environment in the laundry unit of USU Hospital aims to optimize the work
environment in order to reduce the risk of occupational hazards including exposure
to blood linen and surgical instruments, awkward work postures (awkward
posture), and hearing loss that occurs in the laundry unit of USU Hospital so that
the environment becomes more comfortable, and ensures the health and safety of
the working staff. Based on these problems, a macro ergonomics approach is used
called Macro Ergonomic Analysis and Design (MEAD). Observations were made
by identifying work hazards using the Hazard and Operability Study worksheet to
assess the level of hazard risk in the laundry unit of USU Hospital at a high level
in the linen collection, weighing and washing sections, as well as in the drying
section. Factors causing this work hazard are the condition of the work
environment that lacks lighting, leaders who do not supervise the implementation
of work according to SOP, heavy and uneven workloads, machines that are
damaged, and work environments that have the potential to be exposed to bacterial
infections and contamination from infectious linen. . Improvements made based on
the highest score of alternative assessment weight criteria, namely by replacing
lights and adding natural lighting, making infectious and non-infectious linen flow
in one direction, making fixed work shifts along with laundry staff job desks, making
SOP visual displays in each work station area and making laundry unit of USU
