| dc.description.abstract | This research aims to find the types of conceptual metaphors found in Dave Cenker's novel Fly Away Home, to identify how the source and target domain represented in the novel, and to explain the reason why the types of conceptual metaphors are used in Dave Cenker's novel Fly Away Home by using a cognitive stylistic approach. The method of this research is a descriptive qualitative method. The data source is from Dave Cenker's novel Fly Away Home, and the researcher used Lakoff and Johnson's theory of Conceptual Metaphors. The elaboration of correspondence or mapping of the metaphor concept is used to conceptualize the relations between the source and target domains to understand the metaphor in the novel. The result showed that there are 33 types of conceptual metaphors. There are 11 cases of structural metaphor, 6 cases of orientational metaphor, and 16 cases of ontological metaphor. In the study, the researcher identified metaphorical mapping from the source and target domain of structural and ontological metaphors. This novel uses metaphor to show the sublime and aesthetic effect in novels to arouse the reader's curiosity about the novel. The author of the novel incorporates sublime aspects into the literary works, such as figurative language, to externalize the aesthetics of language. | en_US |
