dc.description.abstract | Introduction: Ocular trauma is a significant problem in pediatric patients and the most
common cause of unilateral blindness in children. Of all cases trauma in children, 8-14%0
are cases of ocular trauma.
Aim: To investigate the characteristics of in pediatric ocular trauma patients in H. Adam
Malik General Hospital, Medan in 2011 period.
Methods: This is a retrospective, descriptive study . Population of this research is the
data of 68 patients eyes with Pediatic Ocular Trauma. Data were obtained from
patients medical records at Adam Malik Hospital-
Results; The proportion of pediatric ocular trauma cases is highest at the 7-12 year-old
group with occurrence of 41,2o/o, with the proportion of male 66,2% dan female 33,8%,
Toy is cause agent of ocular trauma 36,7%, mechanism of injury (Blunt injury) 79,4y%
time injury >24 hours 79,4%, unilateral 95,6% dan the medical therapy 52,9%.
