dc.description.abstract | Background Allergic rhinitis can have substansiaf negative impact on the
sufferer include adverse healthy/ activity, emotional, social functioning and
school performance. The efffective treatment allergic rhinitis has been shown
not only to diminish allergic symptoms, also it could improve patients quality
oflrre.
Objectives To investigate the allergic rhinitis patient appropriately with
loratadine can change the adolescent quality of life.
Methods A double blind randomized_cootroJled .trial_.study _tQ.the . .adoJescents
allergic rhinitis ages 13-16 years old. Intervention was given to the first group
with loratadine 10 mg once per day for 14 days and placebo once per day for
14 days to . the other group. The, patients quality _of life _analysed _with
questionnaire PedsQL version 4.0 before and after intervention was done.
Results A total of 680 junior/ high school students only 92 (13.52%) patients
suffer allergic_ rhinms and had the. opportunity to _participate in .this _study.
Overall 46 (50%) patients recieved loratadine and 46 recieved placebo. The
patients was monitored for 1 month. Significant differences in adolescent
quality of life between the two group,s after intervention-the medicine in 1.4
days (p=0.0001)
Conclusions Comprehensive treatment of adolescent allergic rhinitis with
