Formulasi Sediaan Spray Gel Kulit Buah Pisang Barangan (Musa Paradisiaca L.) sebagai Obat Luka Bakar pada Kelinci (Oryctolagus Cuniculus)
Abstract
Barangan banana’s peel (Musa paradisiaca L.) contains Leucocyanidin which has pharmacological activity to accelerate the healing of burns. Spray gel is a type of pharmaceutical preparation that is practical and can prevent contamination of the preparation during its use. This study aims to formulate a spray gel preparation from the extract of barangan banana’s peel as a burn medication in rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus).
Barangan banana’s peel extract was formulated into a spray gel preparation with varying concentrations of F1 (10%), F2 (15%), and F3 (20%). Organoleptic evaluation, homogeneity, pH, viscosity, spray pattern and weight per spray, dispersion, centrifuge test, and cycling test were carried out. The test was carried out on 6 rabbits, 4 burn wounds were made on each of them. There were 6 test groups: positive control, negative control, F1, F2, F3, gel base. Observations were conducted macroscopically and microscopically.
All formulas are have stable organoleptic, homogeneity, centrifugation, cycling test, pH range 6,06-6,75, viscosity range 3034-3490 cPs, diffuse spray pattern, and uniform weight per spray. In the antimicrobial activity test, the spray gel containing barangan banana’s peel extract had inhibition zone diameters of 14.2 and 14.6 mm against Escherichia coli dan Staphylococcus aureus, respectively. The spray gel is non-irritating to the rabbit's skin. Wounds given F3 and positive control healed on day 18, F2 on day 20, F1 on day 22, gel base on day 24, and negative control on day 26. There were significant differences in collagen density and epidermal thickness between groups F1, F2, F3 and negative control.
Spray gel containing Barangan banana peel extract has a good characteristics and stability, and has been prove to accelerate the healing of burns in rabbits.
