Abstract

This study aimed to know the responsibility of land transportation companies for the losses (damages) under gone by the goods senders and receivers. This research made used of normative law approach, namely, a research conducted by means of investigating documents and legal literatures, and investigating how they were applied in reality in relation to transportation service business. of transportation companies The number C population was in fact not known; the accurate data were not yet available. However, on the basis of observation, there were 20 transportation companies involved in land goods transportation. Since this population was relatively small. the whole population was taken as samples. There were therefore 20 samples of this study (total sampling tehnique). Despite this, several informants were selected from linked government offices, namely, the Provincial Office of Transportation of the Aceh Special Province, the Provincial and Regencial Municipal Agencies of Land Transportation. Some information was also collected from provincial and regencial levels of the professional organization of land transportation or Organda. Data were collected through questionaires, interviews and library studies. The method used in data analyses. was descriptive analyses.
