Background: Decubitus ulcer also known as pressure ulcer is a serious medical
condition and one of the important measures of clinical care quality at the
hospital. The description of decubitus ulcer very variable even sometimes
controversial, therefore the retrospective study about the description of decubitus
ulcer including gender, age, ethnicity, underlying disease, location and duration of
ulcer at Haji Adam Malik General Hospital in 2012-2014 was done.
Objective: To determine the description of decubitus ulcer including gender, age,
ethnicity, underlying disease, locarion and duration of ulcer at Haji Adam Malik
General Hospital from January 2012 until December 2014.
Method: A descriptive, retrospective study based on secondary data from medical
records of decubitus ulcer patients at Haji Adam Malik general Hospital from
January 2012 until December 2014.
Results: In the 2012 - 2014, the prevalence of decubitus ulcer is 0, 11 %, which is
lower than other hospital in Indonesia. In most cases, the most prevalent age was
within 35-45 years old and >65 years old (18,7%), the most prevalent gender was
male (51,3%), the most prevalent ethnicity was Batak (53,5%), the most prevalent
duration of ulcer was 15-30 days (52,4%), the most prevalent location was sacral
region (40,7%), and the most prevalent underlying disease was sepsis (13,9%)
Conclusion: In Adam Malik General Hospital, decubitus ulcer mostly found in
men, at age 36-45 years old and >65 years old, Batak ethnicity, duration of ulcer
was 15-30 days, on sacral region, dan the most prevalent underlying disease was
sepsis
