Aims of this study to determine the communication of Guidance Counseling
teachers in Junior High School 1 Batangkuis that occurs in the front region (front
stage), and the back region (back stage). 'The study was based on the theory of
dramaturgy by Erving Goffinan. This study used qualitative methods. Informants
in this study were teachers Guidance Counseling in the Junior High School 1
Batangkuis amounting to 5 (five) people, consisting of 2 (two) Civil Servant
Teachers who already have a teaching certificate and the rest part time teachers
who do not have a teaching certificate. Data collected by reviewing all data
collected from various sources were interviews, observation and documentation.
Data analysis is done by classifying, making categorization I themes and describe
the findings of categories or themes. The results of the study, in the front region
are when the teacher Guidance Counseling faced with students and parents,
shows that teachers Guidance Counseling plays a role as someone who is able to
provide direction, guidance, encouragement and consideration, so that students
are able to manage, and realize the hopes independently and develop optimally, in
back region is when the teacher Guidance Counseling with other teachers and
colleagues, they communicate with trying to act as a figure of friends, and good
profession partners, they manage impression (impression management) in order
to be accepted, and meet the demands of the audience where they are located, by
using verbal and non-verbal communication.
