dc.description.abstract | The growth of urban settlements is inseparable from the rapid rate of urban population growth, either due to population growth of the town itself or the urbanization factor. High population growth is one factor that makes slums development. Nagori Pamatang Simalungun, the area that conducted land consolidation in 1989, had highest population growth rates in the district of Siantar Simalungun,in recent years makes the research impact of land consolidation to the prevention of slums and regional development in Nagori Pamatang Simalungun District of Siantar Simalungun important. There are three things to be achieved through this research, (1) to assess the achievement of the objectives of land consolidation in Nagori Pamatang Simalungun, (2) to determine the criteria of settlement contained in Nagori Pamatang Simalungun and (3) to determine the effect of land consolidation to the public revenue in Nagori Pamatang Simalungun. The results of this study indicate that: (1) the implementation of land consolidation in Nagori Pamatang Simalungun has achieved its goal to make Nagori orderly land ownership and land use optimally through increased efficiency and land productivity, (2) the implementation of land consolidation in Nagori Pamatang Simalungun prevented a slums where Nagori Pamatang Simalungun categorized non slum settlements, (3) land consolidation did not have a significant influence to the people's income improvement. To further enhance and prevent slum settlements in the future, the study recommends the following: (1) it is necessary to improve the quality of public facilities and social amenities in Nagori Pamatang Simalungun and (2) cooperation between local government and land office administration for certification of government assets in Nagori Pamatang Simalungun is needed. | en_US |
