Komunikasi Intim di Kalangan Gay Urban Indonesia (Studi Fenomenologi Tentang Penggunaan GRINDR sebagai Medium Komunikasi)

Abstract

The purpose are as as follows: (I) To descriptive Purpose of Grindr app usqge as the communication medium among Indonesian urban grys; (2) To explore the oworeness and comprehension which appear to a gay before and after intimate communication thriugh Grindr app; (3) To interpret kind of commitment which happeru beforc o, o|tt, being involved in an intimate communication through Grindr. The relevant theories in this research are like the Social Exchange Theory by Thibault and K.elley, Symbolic Interaction by George Herbert Mead, Relationship Cycle Theory by Knapp andVangelisti and Love Triangle Theory by Stenberg. This is qualitative r"iiarch by using phenomenon analysis method which is aime.d ot deepir understanding of a phenomenon through life experience. The subiects af this risearch are decidid uniler certain criterta, which at the end com\trise six (6) gays from 2 big cities in Indonesia, Jakarta and Medan. Data was collected by biptn Intervietp and Literature Study. To preserve the validtty and obiectivity of thi researck, data triangulation was performed. The triangulations we-re method, theory and source triangulation. This research deptcts how the phenomenon of Grindr app technalog' 6afu among the unknown Indonesian urban gay circle as an intimate communication becoie a special attention due to a shift in attitudes towards value and norm in Indonesian societ,v, and the result of this research are as follows: (1) The main purpose is to gain pleasure and sexual contact (AW, IW, RB, MB, kE and AH); -(2)-The muari*ers construction and meanings which appear to a gay during the intimate comm.unication through Grindr are for socializing and for mutual introduction; (3) The commitment interpretation which is reached by this Indonesian urbain gay circle before or afier this intimate communication tkrough Grindr in this rese'aich is cited as operl relationship (IW, MB and AH) while tke other is monognttty relationship (AW, RB and RE)
