dc.description.abstractResearch has been carried out on the hydrogenolysis of a mixture of glycerol and glucose with nickel synthesis catalyst. This catalyst is synthesized from NiCl2.6H2O to [Ni(NH3)2]Cl2 which is purple in color. Heating at 200OC for 4 hours until the color changes from purple to yellow brown. Added with Mg powder in THF (Tertrahydrofuran) by heating at 50OC for 18 hours. The reaction results were tested by XRD and XRF. This [Ni(NH3)2]Cl2 compound was developed as a catalyst for the hydrogenolysis of a mixture of glycerol and glucose. Hydrogenolysis took place at a pressure of 135 psi H2 gas, heated at 215OC for 5 hours, and separated by vacuum distillation. The results of hydrogenolysis tested by GC-MS contained 1,2-Propanadiol 33.32%, Allyl Acetate 30.9%, and Acetic Acid 39.95%.en_US
