Employees especially the qualified ones as the economic capital in achieving
the goal of company is one of the determining elements for PT. Pupuk Jskandar Muda
(PIM) Lhokseumawe in obtaining profit increase. Since employees are one of the
most important factors of production to encourage the progress of a company, it is
necessary to improve the quality of the employees. The way that can be used in
improving the quality of employees is through the implementation education and
training as well as work discipline because these factors will influence the perception
of the employees in carrying out their work activity in the company. The purpose of
this study was to find out and analyuze the influence of education, training and work
discipline on the performance of the employees of PT. Pupuk Jskandar Muda (PIM)
Lhokseumawe. The data for this descriptive quantitative explanatory. survey study
were obtained through interviews, questionnaire distribution and study
documentation. The population of this study was 530 persons and 228 of them were
selected to be the samples for this study. The data obtained were analyzed through
multiple linear regression tests with SPSS program. The result of this study showed
that education and training as well as work discipline simultaneously and partially
had positive and significant influence on the performance of the employees. The
variable of work discipline had a dominant influence on the performance of the
employees. Determination coefficient (k) found in this study was 85. 5%. This means
that the variables of education, training and work discipline can explain the
performance of the employees for 85.5% and the remaining 14.5% is explained by the
other variables.
