Synthesis of carbon dots nanoparticles from sugarcane juice with ethylendiamine passivation agent using the microwave method at 1100 watts of power has been carried out. Sugarcane juice and ethylendiamine with a ratio of 10:0 and 10:1 were dissolved with 100 ml aquadest and heated at 70oC while stirring for 15 minutes. The solution formed is put in the microwave for 20 minutes until a gel was formed. The formed gel was dissolved with aquadest, centrifuged at 4500 rpm for 30 minutes then dialyzed with dialysis membrane for 24 hours, evaporated to produce carbon dots. The resulting carbon dots were characterized by 365 nm UV Lamp, Spectrophotometer UV-Visible, Fourier Transform Infra Red (FTIR), Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM), dan Photoluminescence (PL). The FTIR spectrum shows the formation of carbon dots characterized by the presence of C=O, O-H, C-H, C-O-C, and C-N groups1. Analysis of carbon dots under a 365 nm UV lamp produces a bluish green glow. UV-Visible analysis showed absorption at 275 nm wave numbers. The resulting carbon dots have an average particle diameter of 3,8 nm based on TEM analysis. Photoluminescence analysis resulted in peak emission at a wavelength of 495 nm and an increase in luminenscence intensity of 56% with the addition of passivation agent. Quantum Yield (QY) value on carbon dots without the addition of a passivation agent and with the addition of a passivation agent are 20% and 22,9%.
