    Abstract
Coconut oil is the most valuable product from coconuts and is widely used as an industrial raw material. Coconut oil is one of the raw materials that can be used in making soap, because coconut oil has a high lauric acid content. Soap is a surfactant used for washing and cleaning, working with the help of water. Soap consists of three types, namely solid soap, liquid soap, and transparent soap. Liquid soap is obtained using a saponification process. In this process triglycerides react with alkaline base (KOH) to form soap and glycerol. The need for soap nationally is met, which can be seen from the value of imports in Indonesia, so liquid soap from coconut oil has great opportunities in the industrial world. The pre-designed factory for making liquid soap from coconut oil using the saponification method is designed with a capacity of 3000 tons/year and operates for 330 days a year. The factory location is planned in the District of Silau Laut, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The required factory area is 4,800 m2. The form of this factory business entity is planned as a Limited Liability Company (PT) with line and staff organizational forms, and a workforce of 115 people. The results of the pre-design economic analysis of the factory for making liquid soap from coconut oil are as follows: • Total Investment Capital = IDR 426,485,357,259 • Total Production Cost = IDR 120,158,647,537 • Sales Proceeds = IDR 300,168,000,000 • Net Profit = IDR 125,431,513,990 • Profit Margin (PM) = 59.66% • Break Even Point (BEP) = 16% • Return On Investment (ROI) = 29.41% • Pay Out Time (POT) = 3.4 years • Return On Network (RON) = 49.01% • Internal Rate of Return (IRR) = 30.55% Based on the results of the economic analysis, it can be concluded that this factory is feasible to establish.
