As the population of Indonesia continues to rise, the country's demand for various modes of transportation also increases. The loudness of traffic noise is increased by speeds and numbers of vehicles. Engine, exhaust, horn and tires causes the vehicles noises. This study aims to investigate the noise level at the intersection between Dr. Mansyur Street and Setia Budi Street in Medan using Sound Level Meter. We intend to compare the measurement results with the noise level quality standard (KepMenLH No. 48 tahun 1996), explore the correlation between traffic volumes and noise reduction. In addition, we intend to identify the most effective means of noise reduction. The approach employed to minimize noise level was based on KepMenLH No.48 Tahun 1996, with the Sound Level Meter serving as the research instrument. The estimation of traffic volume is conducted for 24 hours and separated into two periods, weekends and weekdays, at 30 locations. The results of the measurements are then compared to known standards. SPSS was used to determine the effect of correlation and linear regression tests. The intersection of Dr. Mansyur and Setiabudi streets was plotted using the application Surfer version 16 to determine the noise control management. This investigation revealed that the weekend noise levels (LSM) are the highest at 28 locations (70.0 dBA) and the lowest at 11 locations (63.2 dBA). On weekdays, the noise intensity (LSM) is loudest in 15 places (74.7 decibels) and quietest in 20 places (66.8 dBA). The results are more significant than the control variable, with a value of 70 dBA. Regulation of vehicle horns, restrictions on vehicle modification, the installation of street signs, and a greater range in the sound-safe distance across noise sources connected to land-plot management are all viable alternatives to noise-level control.
