dc.description.abstractThe development of cosmetics is growing rapidly over time, especially serum preparations as anti-aging. Serum is a preparation with highly concentrated active substances that have the ability to penetrate deeper into the skin to deliver active substances into the skin. Carboxymethyl chitosan has more carboxyl groups so that hydrogen bonds with water molecules occur, so that it is able to bind water more strongly which has the potential to maintain facial skin moisture, and is also antiaging. Nanogold is widely studied in the cosmetic field because it is able to overcome aging and has the ability to inhibit bacterial activity. The purpose of this study was to formulate and evaluate gel serum preparations containing nanogold and carboxymethyl chitosan as anti-aging agents. The formulation of the serum preparation was carried out by making a concentration of 20 ppm nanogold and 0.25% carboxymethyl chitosan concentration which was then mixed with a serum base. Evaluation of serum gel preparations containing nanogold and carboxymethyl chitosan includes stability test, pH test, homogeneity test, viscosity test, irritation test, Anti-aging effectiveness test (moisture, evenness, pores, spot, wrinkles), antioxidant test, and anti-bacterial test. . The results of the evaluation of serum preparations were found to be stable in storage for 4 weeks at room temperature, pH 6,38-6,36; homogeneous, viscosity 99.51 mPa.s; does not irritate the skin. The anti-aging effectiveness of serum preparations provides percent moisture recovery 63.04%-94.87%, evenness 60%-77.78%, spot 82.54%-90%, pores 33.33%-58.97%, and wrinkles 60%-77.78%, the percentage of inhibition was 87.2%, and the inhibition zone for S. aureus and P.acnes bacteria with the optimum value were 20.3 mm and 14,5 mm. Thus it can be concluded that nanogold and carboxymethyl chitosan as anti-aging can be formulated into facial serum cosmetic preparationsen_US
