dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study is to describe the translation techniques on the subtitles of the Cry Me a Sad River film from Mandarin to Indonesian. This research uses the theory of Molino and Albir. The research method used by the researcher is a qualitative method. The data in this study are words, phrases, clauses, and sentences in the form of narratives in film subtitles. The data analysis method used is a qualitative analysis proposed by Sugiyono. The data in the study were analyzed by identifying the techniques used by translators and then categorized according to in translating film subtitles. The results of this study were 11 types of translation techniques from 163 data. In the use of techniques based on the highest frequency or based on the most dominant techniques used, namely reduction techniques as much as 61 times, amplification techniques 31 times, adaptation techniques as much as 55 times, modulation techniques as much as 44 times, compensation techniques 17 times, literal translation techniques 14 times, modulation techniques 14 times, adaptation techniques 10 times, kalke techniques 5 times, generalization technique 3 times, substitution technique 3 times, transposition technique 3 times and variation technique 2 times. From the results of the study, the translation technique that is often used by translators is the reduction technique. | en_US |
