In this study, the synthesis of carbon dots from oil palm empty fruit bunch as a precursor has been successfully carried out. The first step is carbonization at 300oC for 4 hours. The second stage was the synthesis of carbon dots without the add of 2 g of citric acid as doppan using the hydrothermal method at a temperature of 200oC for 6 hours. The results were ultrasonified for 1 hour and centrifuged for 1 hour at a speed of 5000 rpm. The carbon dots formed were analyzed using a 365 nm UV lamp to produce a blue glow. The results of UV-Visible characterization showing maximum absorption at 205 nm and 322 nm. Photoluminesence spectroscopy showed an emission of wavelength 395 and 406. FTIR analysis on CDs showed the presence of OH, C=C, C=O, and C-H groups. Carbon dots have particle diameters of 4 nm and 3 were analysis in HR-TEM with frige lattice of 0.228 and 0.255. Raman spectroscopy analysis showing two peaks of CDs wavenumber at 1093cm-1 and 1512 cm-1 which are the peaks of the D-band effect of sp3 carbon defect and G-band sp2 carbon structure. The results of this analysis by XPS data from CDs which have 3 elemental components, namely C1s, O1s and N1s with binding energies of 284.68 eV and 285.68 eV from graphite bonds C=C sp3 which is the main chain of CDs and at 288, 03 eV corresponds to the presence of a carbonyl group, these two groups are associated with the components of the oil palm empty fruit bunch precursor chain. Antibacterial test showed that the inhibition zone formed was 8.3 for S.Aureus and 7.1 for E.Coli .
