Squamous cell carcinoma of the oral cavity is an invasive neoplasm that occurs in the epithelial tissue of the oral cavity with various stages of differentiation. Epithelial dysplasia is also used to predict a malignancy other than by looking at the clinical picture. Centella asiatica (L). Urban is a wild plant that has quite good performance as a medicinal plant, both in modern medicine or as a chemopreventive drug as a preventive drug against a disease and prevents carcinogens from becoming invasive. There have been many studies regarding the benefits of the antioxidant content contained in Centella asiatica, but there has been no research on how different effects of the extract (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) have on the incidence of dysplasia. This study aims to look at the effectiveness of the methanol extract of Centella asiatica (L.) Urban leaves at doses of 200 mg/kgBW and 400 mg/kgBW on dysplasia after being induced by dimethylbenz (a) anthracene (DMBA). In this in vivo study, 30 male white rats (Rattus norvegicus) were used which were divided into 3 groups with three different treatments. The mouse cheek mucosa was given 1cm and 2cm long incisions. Mice were sacrificed in each group for histopathological examination. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis and Mann-Whitney tests. The results showed that there was a significant difference in the proliferative activity of the degree of dysplasia in each treatment presented based on the average number in each treatment group in group 1 which was 2.0 ± 0.00 which was the highest number among all treatments. Then, group 2 was 1.30 ± 0.48 and group 3 was 1.22 ± 0.44, which was the lowest number in all treatments. Based on the results of the Kruskal-Wallis test, p = 0.001 <0.05, it can be concluded that there is effectiveness of giving (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) leaf methanol extract at a dose of 200 mg/kgBW and 400 mg/kgBW on the incidence of dysplasia following dimethylbenz (a) anthracene (DMBA) induction.en_US
