    Abstract
Shorea platyclados is one of the species that is difficult to find. The natural habitat is degraded by forest clearing, the potential and benefits of its wood and its difficult propagation has resulted in existence decreasing by around 50% over the last 10 years. Wildlings are a solution to multiply difficult-to-cultivate species. S platyclados is a symbiotic species with mycorrhizae and requires shade for its growth. The aim of this study was to obtain the right dose of mycorrhizal biofertilizer and optimum light requirements for the growth of wildlings of S platyclados by measuring the percentage of life, height, diameter and number of leaves. The wildlings came from the Martelu Purba Nature Reserve, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra with a height range of 30-40 cm. The design used was a Randomized Block Design with 5 treatments with additional mycorrhizal doses, namely control (0 g), 2.5 g, 5 g, 7 g and 9 g and 4 shade blocks, namely no shade (0 %), 50% shade, 60% shade and 70% shade. The results showed that the application of mycorrhizal biofertilizer had a significant effect on the height, diameter and number of leaves. The results of the best increase in height and diameter at a dose of 5 g, while the best number of leaves was at a dose of 9 g. The provision of shading blocks significantly affected the parameters of height and diameter, the best results were height gain in 60% shade and the best diameter in blocks without shade. Mycorrhizal fertilizer application showed the percentage of survival is 100% except for the 9 g dose, which was 87,5%. Shade blocks show 100% survival except in 70% shade with 90% survival percentage.
