| dc.description.abstract | The population and distribution of bamboo growing places need to be
known as considerations in managing and utilizing bamboo. Karo people have
expertise in managing bamboo raw materials into various valuable products. This
community activity requires the availability of raw bamboo materials. Therefore it
is necessary to estimate the population and distribution of bamboo. This study aims
to obtain the bamboo and bamboo composition distribution in Karo Regency. The
research method is the interpretation of Landsat 8 OLI/TIRS imagery to estimate
bamboo land cover. Retrieval of field data using systematic sampling techniques.
The study found six species of bamboo, namely Tali Bamboo (Gigantochloa apus),
Ampel Bamboo (Bambusa vulgaris), Giant Bamboo (Dendrocalamus asper), Duri
Bamboo (Bambusa blumeana), Tamiang Bamboo (Schizostachyum blumei) and
Lemang Bamboo (Schizosrachyum brachycladum). The Citra Landsat-8
classification has identified the bamboo land area of 14,167 ha or 6.47% of the
total area of Karo Regency. Bamboo grows more around the river network and
near settlements as a boundary between villages. | en_US |
