Jabon is an alternative to plantation forests because it is a fast growing plant species and is one of the tree species that have high prospects for plantation forest. This study aims to analyze the chemical properties and natural durability of jabon wood against rotting fungal organisms. The age of the Jabon tree used in the study was 13 years with a wood diameter of 39, 40 and 44 cm. The method used to analyze the chemical properties of Jabon wood is the TAPPI standard and natural durability uses the ASTM standard. From the research was found that cellulose content was 39.33 - 42.27%, lignin content was 25.17 - 29%, hemicellulose content was 45.07 - 51%, holocellulose content was 87 - 90.33%, ash content was 0.7 - 1.1%, levels of extractive substances dissolved in cold water 4.67 - 6.33%, levels of extractive substances dissolved in hot water 5.83 - 7%, levels of extractive substances dissolved in NaOH 1% are 19.5 - 21.67%, and durability class of Jabon wood it is included in class III - IV. The research results show that the position of the wood in the trunk affects the chemical properties and natural durability of Jabon wood.en_US
