dc.description.abstract | The design of the Isopropyl Myristate manufacturing plant using a Reactive
Distillation (RD) reactor has a production capacity of 30,000 tons/year and operates
for 330 days a year. The main process in this plant design consists of three stages,
namely the reaction stage, the neutralization stage, and the purification stage. The
reaction is an esterification reaction that takes place in the RD reactor column with
an average temperature of 150°C with a retention time of 32 minutes in the reactor.
The process in the production of IPM includes:
1. Preparation of Raw and Auxiliary Materials
2. Synthesis Stage (Reaction)
3. Neutralization Stage
4. Purification Stage
The specific task that was completed was the technical design of the Flash
Drum for the initial purification of IPM products. Flash Drum that has been
designed has the following specifications:
1. Max steam speed : 0.0057 m/s
2. Minimum ship area : 0.078 m2
3. ID : 0.316m
4. OD : 0.322 m
5. Waiting time : 10 minutes
6. Ship height : 1,575 m
7. Ship volume : 0.131 m3
8. Thickness of vessel : 3/16 in
9. Number of flash drums : 1 unit
The planned factory location is at Sei Mangkei Special Economic Zone
(KEK) area, which is located in Simalungun Regency, more precisely in North
Sumatra. The location of KEK Sei Mangkei with an area of 11,676 m2. The
workforce needed is 250 people with the form of aPersereoan Terbatas (PT)
business entity under the leadership of a General Manager. The results of the economic evaluation of the IPM Manufacture Factory
from Myristic Acid and IPA are as follows:
• Total Investment Capital : Rp. 2,002,862,934,077
• Total Production Cost : Rp. 1,523,715,554,998
• Sales Results : Rp. 2,060,163,600,000
• Net Profit : Rp. 536,448,045,002
• Profit Margin (PM) : 16.84%
• Break Even Point (BEP) : 25.05%
• Return on Investment (ROI) : 17.33%
• Payment Period (POT) : 5.77 years
• Network Return (RON) : 28.88%
• Internal Rate of Return (IRR) : 16.30%
From the results of the economic evaluation it can be interpreted that the
IPM Manufacturing Plant from Myristic Acid and IPA is feasible to establish. | en_US |
