Ajibata Port is a ferry port that goes to Ambarita Port which is on Samosir
Island. There are two piers in Ajibata Port: one is for conventional wooden ships
carrying passengers, and the other is the MB (movable bridge) pier, which carries
cars, trucks, and passengers. There is a relationship between the port and the
area used by the local community for transactions and socializing in terms of
advancing the development of the port. After the KM Sinar Bangun accident on
Lake Toba on June 18, 2018, which left 3 people dead, 164 people missing, and
19 people alive, the government continues to arrange lake transportation in the
Lake Toba area. Therefore, inter-regional connectivity and integration of land
transportation facilities and infrastructure are required to promote the
development national tourism strategic area of the Lake Toba. Based on the
results of the field survey, we must improve services in supporting the national
tourism strategic area of Lake Toba, not only the role of land transportation. The
methods used to analyze current issue are the Customer Satisfaction Index and
SWOT. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the passenger
satisfaction index was 37.39%. This statistic showed that customers were
dissatisfied with the services provided. According to the results of the SWOT
analysis, the Threats value and Weakness value were obtained, which means that
the Ajibata - Ambarita Port had weaknesses and threats from the internal aspects
of the Port such as port instructions and officers who had not been able to provide
excellent service to service users.
