A nurse manager is a registered nurse who manages or takes the responsibility for daily operations, especially in a certain ward such as an JGD (Emergency Room), a special room for patients in emergency. Screening is a process of screening patients in the !GD, whether they suffer from Covid-19 or not. The objective of the research is to explore deeply the experience of a nurse manager in managing patient screening in the IGD during the Covid-19 pandemic. The research uses a qualitative design with descriptive phenomenological approach. The data are gathered by conducting in-depth interviews in the duration of 30 to 60 minutes and using questionnaires on demographic data, interview guidance,
field note, voice recorder, and researcher. The research is conducted at the RSUP
H.Adam Malik, Medan. The samples are 10 participants. The data are analyzed by using Colaizzi method. The result of the research shows that there are five themes concerning the experience of nurse managers in managing patient screening in the IGD during the Covid-19 pandemic: J) the change in the psychological response at the beginning of the pandemic, 2) facing obstacles in doing the screening, 3) doing early detection of Covid-19, 4) increasing the management of screening service, and 5) adapting to Covid-19. ft is recommended that a nurse manager be able to manage nursing care by advocating, giving input, educating, supporting, motivating, facilitating, and allocating the available resources efficiently, effectively, safely, comfortably, and lovingly, based on the standard of nursing practices.
