| dc.description.abstract | Late adolescents are interested to have a relationship with the opposite gender and are anxious to fit in with their surroundings. It induces them, especially female late adolescents, to consider the concept of the ideal body as an important thing. The concept of the ideal body is closely related to body image. Ones of the factors that influence body image are social comparison and gratitude. The purpose of this study was to examine whether gratitude has a role in moderating social comparison towards the body image. The method of this research used moderation regression analysis. The subjects was taken by using incidental sampling technique and are amount 370 female late adolescent with minimum 3 years Instagram users, with age range 18 to 21 years old. The measurements use body image scale, social comparison scale, and gratitude scale. The results showed that (1) there was an influence of social comparison on the body image in female late adolescent Instagram users, (2) the role of gratitude had a moderating effect that weakened and strengthened the influence of social comparison on body image. The implication of this research was gratitude weakens and strengthens the influence of social comparison in the body image with little effect. | en_US |
