Introduction: Biofilms have been linked to pathophysiology of chronic rhinosinusitis~ Nasal irrigation with surfactant has -been -studied as -a treatment of choice in inhibiting the development of biofilms. The effect of the solution for symptoms and mucociJiary transpod time_ in chronic rhinosinusitis is unknown. Objective: To determine the effect of nasal irrigation with surfactant in patients with chronic rhinosinusitis. Methods: An analytic quasi-experimental study performed on 40 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis divided into 2 groups of hypertonitf' saline <l!ihd baby shampoo. Symptom base.d on SNOT-20 and VAS .questionnaire, as well as the mucociliary transport time was evaluated before and after nasalirrigation tor 2 weeks. Results: The average score of SNOT-20 in group of hypertonic was improved (p = Q_01), as tor .group of baby shampoos .it .is not statistically significant (p = 0,07). There was significant improvement in average score _of VASinboth _group .ofhypertonic _and baby .shampoo with p = 0.-01 andp = 0.05, respectively. Patients with severe VAS category in group of baby shampoos decrease (21~00%) and patients with mild VAS category increase (10.50%). Either hypertonic nor baby shampoo solution does not .affect mucaciliary transport .time. Conclusion: Nasal irrigation with baby shampoo solution as one of treatment choice modality has not been able to affectthe quality of life arid mucociliary transport time in chronic rhinosinusitis, but may affect the severity of diseaseen_US
