Indonesia is one of the countries which is vulnerable to earthquake. This is
because Indonesia is located in the place where four the world's main slabs of
earthquake belt. Earthquake can cause damages in reinforced concrete bridges which
can even collapse if there is a high intensity of earthquake. The effect of earthquake
has cause the bridge needed a strong pier which is able to serve according to the
cu"ent codes. Analyzing the capacity of the bridge pier section can begin from
determining the parameter which is related to concrete, steel reinforcement, and
loading. Yield moment, yield curvature, ultimate moment, and ultimate curvature are
the values which are obtained from the section analysis plotted in the momentcurvature
relationship. These values would be used to analyze moment-rotation in
order to determine the plastic hinge in fhe bottom of the bridge pier column in fixedbased
condition. Horizontal drift in the pier of reinforced concrete bridges is
analyzed by using non-linear static analysis (Pushover analysis) and spectrum
response for the seismic zone of 4 with the types of soft soil. The observed structure is
the pier of reinforced concrete bridges without foundation interaction and with the
interaction between foundation. and soil. The result of the analysis on bridge pier
showed that the maximum of horizontal drift and structure ductility occurs in model
III: bridge pier interact with foundation (co"elation between pile cap and the base of
the pile is considered rigid, while the tip of the pile is considered pillar) according to
FEMA 356. Meanwhile, the minimum of horizontal drift and structure ductility occurs
in model L· bridge pier without foundation interaction (basic pile cap is considered
reinforcement clamp) according to FEMA. 440. Based of the structure ductility, it is
found that, on the whole, the model of bridge pier structure is safe.
