dc.description.abstract | Diabetes melitus (DM) is a metabolic disorder due to insufficiency of insulin function characterized by high blood glucose levels. Diabetes mellitus caused 1,5 million deaths worldwide. Uncontrolled blood glucose level in patients with type 2 diabetes melitus (T2DM) is caused by non optimal treatment. This circumstance confer the opportunities for the pharmacists to contribute in the treatment of patients with DM. The study aimed to evaluate the effect of counseling on costs, outcomes, and adherance of T2DM outpatients in An-Nisa Hospital Tangerang period July 2016 to November 2016. This research is a quasi eksperimental with pre and post test design by applying prospective approach. There were 30 patients in each control and intervention groups. Cost analysis was conducted from the perpective of Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial (BPJS). Characteristics of the patients were analyzed by using Chi-Square methode. Cost effectiveness was analyzed by calculating Cost Effectiveness Ratio (CER), Incremental Cost Effectiveness Ratio (ICER), Cost Utility Ratio (CUR), Incremental Cost Utility Ratio (ICUR) of each group. Furthermore, adherance of T2DM patients to their treatments were analized by using MMAS-8. The study indicated that most of the patients (70%) were female with ages: > 45, 83,3%; ≤ 45, 16,7%. It was found that treatment in intervention group was more cost-effective than control group. Counseling had a significant effect on adherence of the patients to their prescribed medications (p < 0,001). This research proved that counseling had positive effect on the treatment of T2DM patients. | en_US |
