The results of study using shift share analysis shows that in the period 2009 - 2013, GDP of Simalungun Regency experienced the increase of value of Rp 75,811.82 billion. This can be seen by the total value 0f the share shift in all sectors of podtive economic activity. The increase in economic performance of Simalungun mainly contributed by the top three economic sector, such as; Agriculture Sector, Services Sector and Manufacturing Sectors. The three sectors of the economy in Simalungun during the observation period have large value of shift share where the sector showed that the higher level of competitiveness compared to the same sector at the level of the economy of North Sumatra. Shift Differential value which is negative and relatively low indicates that the economic sector is suffering a descendant of relative competitiveness to the same economic sector at the provincial level. As the top commodity in the agricultural sector are eligible to be developed are the subsector commodities such as oil palm plantations, Robusta coffee, Arabica coffee, chocolate, cloves, pepper, sugar palm, Pinang, Tobacco and Vanilla and the commodities in the sub-sector of food crops such as paddy fields , Maize, Cassava and Sweet Potato. In an effort to develop the superior commodities, suggested to the district government to develop those leading commodities of Simalungun in the better way. Otherwise that suggested in the process of regional development keenly to maximize the power in exploiting opportunities which exist through a development strategy that has been compiled by the local government so that threats and weaknesses can be avoided or even can be transformed into new powers if it does an observation and training in the better way next future. It is expected that those development strategy can deliver positive resuts in the planning of development programs in the next period. | en_US |
