dc.description.abstract | A composite of EPDM/NR alloy which is then added with limestone powder as a filler which is applied as a vehicle door impact absorber (Weather strip). The natural rubber used is SIR 20 natural rubber. EPDM synthetic rubber and SIR 20 natural rubber are vulcanized by adding acid stearate, ZnO, MBTS, and Sulfur using reflux at a temperature of 150°C and then pressed using a hot press at a temperature of 125°C to produce a composite which was then subjected to a dance test with a tensile strength value of 3.9823 MPa, strain 116.58% , and a MoE value of 0.7493 MPa at a variation of 20:80, and functional group analysis by FTIR. Optimum EPDM/NR specimens were added with limestone powder with various additions of 10 phr, 20 phr, 30 phr,40 phr so as to produce EPDM/NR composite – limestone powder. Furthermore, the EPDM;NR composite: limestone powder formed was characterized by impact strength tests, SEM, and DSC. The results showed that the EPDM/NR:limestone powder alloy was carried out by impact testing with the highest yield at the addition of 30 phr of limestone powder of 4.732 J/m2. The results of the morphological analysis with SEM showed that the composite mixture looked homogeneous. And the results of DSC showed that the composite experienced a deposition at an exothermic peak reaching a temperature of 436.44°C | en_US |
