Tingkat Pengetahuan Mahasiswa Kepaniteraan Klinik Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Sumatera Utara terhadap Manifestasi Oral HIV/AIDS

Abstract

HIV/AIDS is a national health problem that requires comprehensive management. The level of knowledge of clinical clerkship students of the Faculty of Medicine regarding oral manifestations is expected to reach the level of analysis so that they can educate HIV/AIDS patients, detect HIV/AIDS, and be able to take appropriate next steps such as referring HIV/AIDS patients to dentists. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of knowledge about the oral manifestations of HIV/AIDS, the factors that influence the oral manifestations of HIV/AIDS, oral candidiasis, oral hairy leukoplakia, Kaposi's sarcoma, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and HIV-associated periodontal disease. This type of research was a descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach. Respondents to this study totaled 106 clinical clerkship students at the USU Medical Faculty who were taken using a stratified random sampling technique. Data collection used an online questionnaire via Google Forms. Data analysis was in the form of univariate analysis and was processed descriptively, calculated in terms of frequency and percentage. The results showed that the level of knowledge about the oral manifestations of HIV/AIDS was good (86.8%), the factors influencing the oral manifestations of HIV/AIDS were good (81.1%), the results of oral candidiasis were good (100%), oral hairy leukoplakia was good (95.3%), Kaposi's sarcoma was good (86.8%), non-Hodgkin's lymphoma was good (49.1%), HIV-associated periodontal disease was good (46.2%). This study concluded that the level of knowledge of clinical clerkship students at the USU Medical Faculty regarding the oral manifestations of HIV/AIDS was good.
