Precancerous lesions are lesions with changes in the epithelial tissue, leading to the potential for malignancy. Dysplasia is a type of precancerous lesion with changes in cytology and cell architecture that are often found and are an early sign of cancer. Chemotherapy is a therapy to stop cell proliferation and dysplasia and inhibit cell growth so that it does not multiply or spread to other tissues. Indian pennywort (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) is a plant that is used as medicinal plant which can be used as a chemotherapy agent. This study aims to determine the effectivity of methanol extract of indian pennywort leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) at doses of 25 mg/kgBW and 50 mg/kgBW on the incidence of dysplasia induced by dimethylbenz [] anthracene (DMBA). The type of this research is a laboratory experimental research with 30 wistar rats used as research samples then divided into 3 groups. Group 1 were given DMBA three times per week, group 2 were induced by DMBA three times per and given methanol extract of indian pennywort leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) at a dose of 25 mg/kgBW, and group 3 were induced by DMBA three times per and given methanol extract of indian pennywort leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) at a dose of 25 mg/kgBW. The dysplasia grading in this study used the WHO 2017 grading system. The result from the dysplasia grading were then analysed using the Kruskall-Wallis test followed by the Mann-Whitney test. The result showed the effectiveness of giving methanol extract of indian pennywort leaves (Centella asiatica (L.) Urban) at doses of 25 mg/kgBW and 50 mg/kgBW on the incidence of dysplasia induced by dimethylbenz [] anthracene (DMBA). The group that was not given the extract showed a higher dysplasia grade.
