Gambaran Forgiveness pada Dewasa Awal yang pernah mengalami Toxic Relationship

One of the developmental tasks in early adulthood is to establish romantic relationships. Although some relationships are actually filled with painful things that make someone experience a toxic relationship. Toxic relationships will cause a person to feel negative feelings that indicate they are in an unforgiveness condition. When a person can neutralize negative feelings, even foster positive feelings for both themselves and others, then the individual is in a forgiveness condition. This research was conducted to see an overview of the forgiveness process experienced by early adult individuals who have experienced toxic relationships. This research method uses qualitative methods with purposive sampling with three respondents. The result of this research are that only second respondent managed to achieve forgiveness because it ends in an outcome phase. Meanwhile, first and third respondents turned back to uncovering phase after reaching outcome phase in first respondent, and after reaching decision phase on third respondent. Factors that influence second respondent in achieving forgiveness is receiving a sincere apology from the transgressor that affects the sense of empathy from second respondent. While the factors that hinder first and third respondents in achieving forgiveness is a level of injury that is too deep affecting a low sense of empathy for the transgressor, as well as rumination and suppression of toxic relationships.
