    Abstract
Background: Treatment of pediculosis with the use of pediculicides which have been widely used throughout the world apart from being easy and comfortable to use and the results are very effective, however, there are potential side effects and resistance and ineffectiveness of pyrethrin and pyrethroid-based pediculicides. Development of a plant called sembung vines (Mikania micrantha Kunth) and aloe vera gel (Aloe vera Linn) contains secondary metabolites such as flavonoids which have the potential to eradicate head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis). The advantage of using plant-based medicines is that side effects are relatively minor when used correctly. Purpose: To determine the effectiveness of a mixture of sembung rambat leaf extract (Mikania micrantha Kunth) and aloe vera gel (Aloe vera Linn) on the mortality of head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis). Methods: This study used a proper experimental design with a posttest-only control group design against head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis). This study consisted of a positive control group using 1% permethrin and a negative control using distilled water and 3 treatment groups using a mixture of sembung rambat leaf extract (Mikania micrantha Kunth) and aloe vera gel (Aloe vera Linn) with a ratio of 30:70 (P1), 50:50 (P2), 70:30 (P3). This study was replicated 3 times to observe the mortality of head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis). Results: The treatment group had a mortality percentage from the highest to the lowest at 240 minutes, P2 (63.33%), P3 (60%), P1 (43.33%). The results of the one-way ANOVA test, the difference in the average percentage of head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) mortality in the test group was p<0.05. Conclusion: A mixture of sembung rambat leaves (Mikania micrantha Kunth) and aloe vera gel (Aloe vera Linn) is effective in causing head lice (Pediculus humanus capitis) mortality.
