dc.description.abstract | The flavonoid compound had been isolated from the leaves of ridan (Nephelium maingayi Hiern). Isolation was carried out using maceration extraction method with methanol and methanol extract was re-extracted with ethyl acetate repeatedly until negative to 5% FeCl3. Ethyl acetate extract was concentrated and reconstituted with methanol and partitioned with n-hexane until the n-hexane layer was clear. The methanol extract was separated using column chromatography with a stationary phase of silica gel and a mobile phase of chloroform - methanol (90:10, 80:20, 70:30, 60:40) v/v. The compound obtained from fraction 95-144 was purified by preparative thin layer chromatography and the resulting isolate was 8 mg yellowish-brown amorphous solid with an Rf value of 0.68 with chloroform - methanol (70:30) v/v as eluent. Based on the results UV-Visible analysis, it showed a wavelength (λmax) of 317 in the band I and 289 nm in the band II, the FT-IR spectrum showed the presence of OH, C-H stretching, C = C aromatic, C = O, C-H bending and C-O groups. The Proton Core Magnetic Resonance Spectrum ( 1H-NMR ) showed the presence of H-2’ ; H-6’ ; H-3’ ; H-5’; H-8 and H-6 on the aromatic rings. Based on the data obtained, the isolated compound is a flavonoid compound of the flavone group. | en_US |
