dc.description.abstract | The waters of Sialang Buah Village are a coastal area located in Teluk Mengkudu District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. In 2018 mackerel production in North Sumatra was quite abundant, where according to statistical data from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the total mackerel production in 2018 reached 28,989.57 tonnes. Mackerel has good tolerance properties to the surrounding environment. This is because in the digestive tract of mackerel there are bacteria that grow naturally and provide an advantage in the mackerel's body, which can kill the growth of pathogenic bacteria that can cause mackerel to get sick. The purpose of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of lactic acid bacteria isolates obtained from the digestive tract of mackerel landed in the waters of Sialang Buah Village against pathogenic bacteria of fishery products landed in the waters of Sialang Buah Village. This research was conducted from October to November 2022 at the Laboratory of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of North Sumatra. The research data obtained were then analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. The results showed that the antibacterial activity test against Eschericia coli the highest inhibition zone was found in isolate RB1 with a range of 10-20 mm which was categorized as strong and the lowest inhibition zone was in isolate RB7 with a range of 5-10 mm in the medium category, against Staphylococcus aureus the highest inhibition zone was in isolates RB5 with an inhibition zone of more than 20 mm was categorized as very strong and the lowest inhibition zone was in isolate RB 10 with an inhibition zone of 5-10 mm in the moderate category, and against Salmonella sp. the highest inhibition zone was on RB1 with a range of 10-20 mm which was categorized as strong and the lowest inhibition zone was on isolate RB7 with a range of 5-10 mm which was categorized as medium. | en_US |
