Enterococcus faecalis is one of the microorganisms that are resistant to root canal irrigation materials and causes failure in root canal treatment. Batak onion bulbs are reported to contain antibacterial compounds. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of 70% ethanol extract of Batak onion bulbs(Allium chinense G.Don.) against bacteria Enterococcus faecalis. This type of research is a laboratory experimental research approach post test only with controlled group design. The sample used is Enterococcus faecalis ATCC® 29212TM and 70% ethanol extract of Batak onion bulbs with 7 concentration groups and 2 control groups. This study used the disc diffusion method Kirby-Bauer to determine the value of the minimum inhibitory content (MIC), then with the method streaking from MIC testing to determine the value of minimum killing levels (KBM). Analysis of research data on determining the value of MIC and KBM using tests one way ANOVA (p>0.05). Data analysis continued with the test Post-Hoc Test LSD. The results showed that there was antibacterial activity of the 70% ethanol extract of Batak onion bulbs on bacterial growth Enterococcus faecalis indicated by the ability to inhibit bacterial growth Enterococcus faecalis starting from a concentration of 0.78% to a concentration of 50% with an inhibition zone diameter of 8.06 ± 0.20 mm to 13.86 ± 0.55 mm. The killing power of bacteria at a concentration of 0.78% to 50% concentration only reduced bacterial colonies as much as 34.40% to 84.19%. In this study, the concentration of 0.78% was determined as the MIC value and included in the moderate antibacterial category. The KBM value was not found, because among the seven extract concentrations it was not able to reduce the number of bacterial colonies by 98%-99%. Bacterial inhibition activity Enterococcus faecalis the optimal category with strong antibacterial from 70% ethanol extract of Batak onion bulbs was found at a concentration of 6.25%.en_US
