| dc.description.abstract | Identification of the disaster victims becomes difficult to do if only certain body parts remain of the victims are found. In disaster victims where the condition is only the head and oral cavity are left, odontometric dental examination can be related to height, so that it can help in narrowing the identification process. Teeth can be considered as a means of identifying an individual because no one has the same dental condition in the oral cavity and is the hardest tissue so it is not easily damaged. The aim of this study was to analyze the percentage of success of estimating height odontometrically using the Carrea Index for Batak students aged 18-25 years. The type of research is descriptive analytic with cross sectional design. Height was measured using a staturemeter and estimated height was obtained by measuring the teeth on the model using a digital caliper according to the provisions of the Carrea index. The results showed that the average height and estimated height of men was higher than women, analyzed by independent T-test showing a significant difference (p<0.05). Estimates of right and left height for each sex were analyzed using the one way ANOVA test and did not show a significant difference (p>0.05). The percentage of success in estimating height using the Carrea index for men (66.7%) was higher than women (63.3%), but when analyzed by the chi-square test there was no significant difference (p>0.05). The correlation between height and estimated height was analyzed using the Pearson Correlation test which showed a moderate correlation strength (r=0.430-0.459). The conclusion of this study is percentage of success on estimation of height using the Carrea index in this study for both men and women in the Batak ethnic were quite good. | en_US |
