Smoking and consuming coffee simultaneously or at different times tend to be done frequently. This happens because nicotine and caffeine can increase dopamine secretion, providing a sense of calm. The bitter and sour taste of coffee can increase the flow rate of saliva through chemical stimulation. The aims of the study: to determine the flow rate and degree of salivary acidity in electric smokers and coffee addicts and the changes of it at 7 and 30 minutes after consuming coffee. Research method: quasi-experimental. Saliva was collected using the draining method for 5 minutes, then the flow rate and pH of the saliva were calculated. Data analysis used the T-independent test to see differences in salivary flow rate and degree of acidity between the two groups and the T-dependent test to see differences in the two variables at 7 and 30 minutes after consuming coffee. Results: in electric smokers, the salivary flow rate was normal (100%), while the values in electric smokers who were coffee addicts were 9 subjects in the low category (90%) and 1 subject in the normal category (10%). The salivary pH in both groups was in the normal category (100%). Salivary flow rate and pH 7th and 30th minutes after consuming coffee in coffee addict electric smokers showed that there was a significant difference with p = 0.007 <0.05 (salivary flow rate) and p = 0.000 <0.05 (salivary pH). Conclusion: there were differences in the flow rate and degree of salivary acidity in the electric smoker and coffee addict groups. The salivary flow rate and degree of salivary acidity increased in the 7th minute after consuming coffee and returned to their initial values in the 30th minute.en_US
