Transportation is a special form of the linear program that functions as a solver of transportation problems that aims to minimize costs, distance traveled, and so on in order to obtain maximum profit. The transportation model has several parameters, namely transportation costs, the number of demand and the supply is not constant so that to overcome the uncertainty of supply and demand, fuzzy numbers are used as transportation costs, the amount of demand and supply. The fuzzy transportation problem is a transportation problem with the number of demand the number of supply and transportation costs in an uncertain state. Fuzzy transportation problems can be solved using the improved vogel approximation method (IVAM), the improved vogel approximation method is a variation of the vogel approximation method which provides a more optimal solution. In the transportation activities carried out by Perum Bulog Sub Divre Medan it will incur a cost of IDR 823,478,247 in 2021, using the improved vogel approximation method, a more optimal cost is obtained, namely IDR 670,362,717. The results showed that the improved vogel approximation method on fuzzy transportation optimization problems can be solved and produce optimal solutions.
