dc.description.abstract | Bioplastic obtained from breadfruit starch (Artocarpus altilis) and carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) with increasing of glycerol as a plasticizer was carried out by varying the addition of glycerol at concentration of 10%, 20%, 30% and 40% of the starch weight by heating at 60 oC. The bioplastic produced were tested for tensile strength, percent elongation, percent water absorbed, degradability and FT-IR. The characterization results showed that the optimum bioplastic film on Starch : CMC with a glycerol concentration of 10% with the resulting values being tensile strength of 34.26 N/mm2, percent elongation of 21,4%, percent of water absorbed 44% and biodegradability of 20% in 32 days. The results of the analysis of the characteristics of the FT-IR spectrum showed the groups contained in the bioplastic film of breadfruit starch and CMC with glycerol plasticizer contain functional groups with C=O and C-O-C bonds which are easily degraded. | en_US |
