Sulfation of myristyl alcohol was made with SO3-DMF complex formed from reaction
between SO3 and DMF at temperature of 0-4°C with variations of complex formation
time (3 hours, 4 hours, and 5 hours) wherein the SO3 obtained from the reaction of
P4O10 and H2SO4. Myristyl alcohol is performed by combining at a temperature of
70°C for 2 hours and neutralized with NaOH 40%. The results of sulfation of myristyl
with variations of complex formation time 3,4,5, hours produce a yield of 48,68%,
48,29%, and 45,32%, foam stability testusing vortex mixer of 0,5 cm, 0,2 cm, dan 0,1
cm, and surface tension test using du nouy ring tensiometer of 30,1 dyne/cm, 28
dyne/cm, dan 25,7 dyne/cm.
