Sintesis dan Karakterisasi Zeolit Alam Pahae-Bottom Ash Batubara Sebagai Adsorber Logam Fe dan Mn Pada Air Sumur
Abstract
Research had carried out for the manufacture of Pahae natural Zeolite-Bottom ash-based adsorbents from coal as an adsorbent for Fe and Mn metals in well water. The manufacture of adsorbents made from Pahae natural Zeolite-Bottom ash was carried out by sifting with a 200 mesh (74 μm) sieve, then chemically activated with 1M NaOH solution. Variations in the composition of the Natural Zeolite Pahae-Bottom coal ash adsorber were 100% : 0%, 95% : 5%, 90% : 10%, 85% : 15%, 80% : 20%, 75% : 25%, then printed with using a Hydraulic Press tool with a loading of 6 tons for 10 minutes. The printed material was then physically activated with temperature variations of 600°C, 700°C, and 800°C for 4 hours. Then the adsorber was characterized to determine its physical properties (porosity and water absorption), mechanical properties (hardness), sample surface morphology (SEM), elemental content (XRF), and crystal structure (XRD). The test results show that the optimum composition was 75%:25% at 600°C with a porosity value of 68.66% and a water absorption rate of 42.52%. With the addition of filler bottom ash, coal can increase the hardness value to 150.734 MPa at a composition of 75%:25% at 800°C. The results of the SEM test showed an average pore diameter of 1,9528 μm, the results of the elemental content test (XRF) found that the Si/Al ratio was 3.80 and the results of the XRD test showed that the crystal structure formed was hexagonal. The results of the AAS test showed that the Pahae natural Zeolite-Bottom ash-based adsorber of coal was able to reduce the content of metal Iron (Fe) with percentage of 92.37% and metal Manganese (Mn) with a percentage of 53.49% in well water
