dc.description.abstract | The e-pusda application is an open source library management system software developed and used by the Medan City Library and Archives Service. E-Pusda provides an opportunity for the people of Medan City to become members of the digital library, borrow e-books online and read reading materials as desired which can be accessed anytime and anywhere. However, the problems that occur are the limited collection of reading materials, the number of visitors who come directly to the library is more than the users of the e-Pusda application, the employees are still unresponsive, and the allocated budget is still limited. This study aims to describe the capacity of the Medan City Library and Archives Service in running the regional electronic library (e-pusda) to increase public interest in reading.
The research method used is a qualitative research method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques were carried out by means of interviews, observation and documentation related to research. The data obtained were then analyzed qualitatively by examining all the data that had been collected which was supported by the results of interviews with Horton's theoretical approach which suggested that organizational capacity can be seen through human resources, infrastructure, technology and financial resources, strategic leadership, programs and management processes, and collaboration networks.
The results of this study show that the capacity of the Medan City Library and Archives Service in running the electronic regional library (e-pusda) to increase public interest in reading has not gone well. It can be seen that there has been no training for employees, the limited budget has resulted in the collection of reading materials not being able to meet the needs of visitors, and there has not been an evaluation carried out in running the e-pusda. | en_US |
