Dampak Pendidikan Karakter terhadap Karakter Nasionalisme pada Siswa Smp Negeri 1 Kuala Kabupaten Langkat pada Masa Pandemi Covid-19

Abstract

Efforts to strengthen the character of nationalism through character education in schools is one of the most important things for the next generation of the nation in the midst of various phenomena of the decline of national character. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic that hit Indonesia, the education sector was hampered, resulting in educational institutions having difficulties in providing strengthening character education, especially the character of student nationalism. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Kuala, Langkat Regency which aims to get an overview of the impact of character education on the character of nationalism in students of SMP Negeri 1 Kuala, Langkat Regency during the Covid-19 pandemic. The key informants of this study were the Deputy Headmaster of SMP Negeri 1 Kuala, the main informants were 2 teachers of SMP Negeri 1 Kuala and 3 students of SMP Negeri 1 Kuala, and additional informants namely 2 parents of students of SMP Negeri 1 Kuala. This study uses a qualitative approach with descriptive research methods, then the theory used is the theory of nationalism indicators. The results of this study are that character education during the Covid-19 pandemic has an impact on several aspects of student nationalism character which can be seen from 6 indicators of nationalism such as adopting heroic values, respecting Indonesia's diversity, prioritizing common interests over personal interests, respecting differences. opinions, respecting people's rights, and willingness to help those affected by disaster
